For 30K Wireless Devices
Children's Hospital Los Angeles
After our highly acclaimed customer story about St Vrain School district in Colorado, Cisco came to First Person with another assignment. Could we get our minds around a new story for the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. We needed to develop the story, shoot the video, and finish the post production in two weeks, just in time for Cisco Live Barcelona. The CTO and Director of Technology were going to speak on main stage at the event and Cisco needed a powerful opening video to launch the session.
The mission of medical care in a children's hospital means that security and confidentiality are paramount concerns. CHLA could see the writing on the wall. Every day new wireless devices were added to their workflow: NICU monitoring vitals, surgical alert and notification systems, and inventory management. The number and variety of devices were far outpacing the hospitals ability to secure and administer them. Not to mention the massive bandwidth required to keep them all humming.
It was time for a change. CHLA replaced 350 Switches and 2000 APs across 25 buildings with Cisco solutions. Using Intent-based Networking from Cisco, they were able to automate the creation of device profiles and to streamline administration to allow all of the new devices without any additions in staff.
